Wheel of Balance
The traditional Wheel of Being (also known as the Wheel of Nature) is sometimes called the Fivefold Pattern.
It is thought to represent Ireland divided into Leinster, Munster, Connaught, Ulster and Meath - all entwined by over- and underlapping lines.
Or it may be The Four Powers or The Four Elements of Nature (fire, water, earth & air) in the Druid's world
shown as 4 circles touching are united and balanced by the 5th circle.
Some versions include the simple yet powerful 3 pointed star knotwork called a triquetra. The number 3 is reverred by the ancient Celts as well as other cultures and may represent the past, present and future or heaven, earth and water or unity, strength and wholeness.
