Celtic Knot Meanings
Unfortunately the people of the ancient world did not write down the meanings of most knotwork. And it is possible that the knots do not have a meaning or symbol associated with them. During our modern period some of the Celtic knots have been associated with certain symbolic meanings. When enough people recognize a design as standing for something - a symbol is born. This happened thousands of years ago among different tribes. Today symbols are born when a group decides one design shall represent a special meaning to them. Thus new symbols are born out of ancient motifs blended with modern views.
The Celtic Lady's™ advises that YOU DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH when choosing a Celtic knot for personal use - ask yourself what it means to you. In this way you have created the symbolic meaning of the design. In way you have empowered that design and thus have created a wonderful story to tell others when they comment on your tattoo.

To aid you in your research The Celtic Lady's™ has created her List of Celtic Symbol Designs for Tattoos
These designs were created after extensive research using archeological sources, art history books, historical records and a variety of other well respected sources. Included in this historical research were medieval Irish manuscripts, Scottish stones, British tribes and Central European ancient cultures.

CUSTOMIZING A DESIGN
(requesting a Custom Tattoo Design)

The Celtic Lady's™ often gets requests to modified an existing design
- it is recommends that you take the design to your tattoo artist. Remember the 2nd word in tattoo artist is "artist" and working directly with them will produce a more desirable design.
Plus you will be able to give them personal input and guide any changes or additions
- thus ensuring a design that you made personal and unique.

When one sits down with a tattoo artist in person you can see the design develop and quickly decide if it is what you had in mind - and usually minor changes are made without any extra fees added to the whole process. Good luck,

VIRUSES AND WORMS

Always be on the defensive by having the latest ANTI-VIRUS, ANTI-WORM/SPYWARE and ADWARE programs installed.
One of the best sites to evaluate these programs is the magazine PCWorld.
Some viruses and worms can raid email addresses in the computer's Address book or email program. OUTLOOK or OUTLOOK EXPRESS programs are prone to viruses or worms which can get onto a computer unknowingly.
Email addresses can then be "hijacked" from programs like OUTLOOK and turn around to send out bogus emails. These emails will look like they come from a friend or company you have already received email from. BUT the emails contain damaging attachments or links to entice you to click on the link. It may then send you to a page that looks like a legitimate company. This page may ask you to "re-enter" your personal information. Attachments now come in a variety of forms with extensions such as .exe (executable files), .zip, .txt, .doc. Other file types are being added monthly. So do NOT open an attachment unless you were expecting one.

~~~ A Word of Caution on Symbols ~~~
Many sites offer "meanings" for a variety of Celtic knots - unfortunately the people of the ancient world did not write down those meanings and it is possible that many knots do not have a meaning or symbol associated with them. Other designs may have developed as the Celtic tribes interacted with other cultures and wished to demonstrate the power of their gods and goddess, thus creating or assigning a symbolic to the gods or to actions or important parts of their culture. During our modern period some of the Celtic knots have been associated with certain symbolic meanings. When enough people recognize a design as standing for something - a symbol is born.
DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH
When choosing a Celtic knot for personal use - ask yourself what it means to you.
A variety of retail items claim to be "the symbol for ..... " - proceed with caution here - this could just be selling tool.
The Celtic Lady's™ offers this advice after learning of a friend of her daughter who had a Chinese symbol tattooed on her thigh. She was told the symbol was for "Nurse" or "Healing". Well, she lives in San Francisco - a wonderful city full of many Chinese transplants. At her hospital she ran into a doctor from China who said that the tattoo meant something totally different from what she was told. She now has a very permanent reminder of her mistake in rushing into a decision without doing her research.
CUSTOM WORK REQUESTS
Presently, it is not possible to accept requests for custom work.
Thank you for thinking of The Celtic Lady's™ for a custom design - she is quite flattered that you would consider her.
The 2nd word in Tattoo Artist is artist and many are quite talented.
Gather several designs you like and take them to your favorite tattoo artist for custom and personal design.
