Triskele & Triquetra

TRISKELE - 3 spirals radiating from a common center.

TRIQUETRA - knotwork which creates 3 equal sized "legs"

TRIQUETRA with Circle - - Artwork
- The Trinity Knot has been found in various Celtic illuminated manuscripts
Called the Triquetra, which means "three-cornered" in Latin.
To early Christians, it symbolized both the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son and God The Holy Spirit). Also it could represent fish ("pisces") - shown as three fishes. In the first centuries of Christianity when believers were persecuted, the fish was a valuable symbol. When two believers who did not know each other met, one would draw half the fish in the sand. If the other person completed the another half of the fish they knew they were safe to talk of their beliefs
The Circle represents unending love, as in God's or Jesus' unending love for man and woman.

In the TV series Charmed it means "The Power of Three acting as One." The symbol is shown on the Book of Shadows and during the first season it also appeared on a metal tag worn by a cat. Often the last part of the phrase, "acting as One" is not said but the premise of the TV show is that all 3 witches must act together "as one" to be extremely powerful. It is the circle that represents "acting as One"
